Week #23 – Expansion

I attended Tony Robbins’ Unleash the Power Within event from June 3rd to 6th. My intention was to be open to any form of expansion it might bring about. The event was great and I had some great insights and breakthroughs. While the material itself wasn’t revolutionary, there’s something to be said about going through an immersive personal growth event with 18,000 others. Tony Robbins is a master storyteller and keeps his audience riveted, so that played a big role in how impactful the event was. The upselling of his other courses became a bit much on the last day though, and I found myself getting quite irritated. But overall, the experience was positive, especially because there was a lot of focus on doing exercises and not just listening to the speakers.

One of my main takeaways was the impact of physiology on psychology. Throughout the event, there was an emphasis on using your body to change your mental state. While we may understand this intellectually, very few of us actively use our bodies to feel better on a daily basis. The interesting thing was that by the end of the thing, I didn’t find it weird at all to stand up and do a 2-minute dance routine to amp myself up regularly.

I also thought through and broke a few limiting beliefs which was awesome. Tony is big on NLP and it was a fascinating experience to actually do the exercises. I also loved his visualisation and gratitude exercises. Tony’s persona is magnetic and I found myself cutting away from distracting thoughts easily and going deep into the visualisations which made them more effective.

I do feel like my possibility space has opened up after the event and I have clarity about what I want my life to look like in the next 6-12 months. I have also started doing his daily priming exercise which complements my morning journaling well. I feel inspired to raise my standards across various areas of my life and make tangible changes.

Value for week #24 – Consistency

Motivation gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing. That’s the Law of Consistency. It doesn’t matter how talented you are. It doesn’t matter how many opportunities you receive. If you want to grow, consistency is key.

– John C. Maxwell

Now that I’ve had some insights and clarity on the changes I want to make and the actions I want to take, I’d like to become consistent with making the changes. I’d like to start with daily consistency. Specifically, I’d like to consistently do Tony Robbins’ Priming exercise every day so that this can become a part of my daily routine. Once this has been done, I’ll incorporate other changes one week at a time.
